Multi-instrumentalist duo Bak//Rordam releases melodic song ‘Odsherred’

Frans Bak and Jan Rørdam both hail from Denmark and they have been composing, songwriting and producing music many years.  Both bring a unique style of their own having immersed themselves in a number of musical projects over the years, and through hugely diverse careers affording them both a wealth of differing experiences. Both are ardent collaborators and have worked with a number of artists and composers along the way as well as having successful solo careers.

Frans is perhaps best known for his genre defining compositional work for ‘The Killing’ setting new standards for other composers within the Nordic Noir scene. A master of creating edgy, dark, atmospheric soundscapes, sympathetic to on-screen surroundings, Frans became the composer associated with a run of very successful crime TV shows internationally.

A multi-instrumentalist, Frans graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of music as a classical student and thereafter set about fusing this training with other genres.  He went on to form a number of jazz bands before carving out his unique signature piano sound; minimal, dreamy, ethereal melodies which can be heard at their peak on his album, Piano, released in May 2020 on Dharma Records. Frans brings this signature piano sound to ‘The Odsherred Session’ to stunning effect.

Jan’s background is rooted in popular music and he has worked with a number of successful artists and composers and has released a number of collaborative albums and also solo works. He co-wrote the music for Bamse’s Picture Book which was released as an album from a hugely popular Danish children’s TV show. He has also scored music for TV2 and a vast range of TV shows, documentaries, children’s TV, commercials, theatre and feature films within his native Denmark and neighbouring countries.

Jan’s main instrument is the guitar, and his sound is very distinct, folky and beautifully melodic. He writes very catchy tunes that you find yourself humming as the track ‘Odsherred’ is wonderfully testament to.
