Pre-order The Earth’s Relief

Describe your sound for us. What do you want people to feel when they hear your music?

Trrmà sound combines drum beats,  polyrhythmic percussion patterns with cosmic and futuristic synthesizer sounds.

Which 3 artists have influenced you the most growing up?

SUN RA, Iannis Xenakis, Jeff Mills.

How did you discover your particular sound?

Our sound opposes two different worlds, one bound to the roots and tribalism and the other bound to science fiction’s soundscapes.

What are the most important pieces of equipment to you?

Drumsticks and kick pedal. Our modular synthesizer’s system.

What outside of music inspires you to create?

Outside the music, we are inspired by science fiction, history, cosmic and space literature and philosophy, food, technologies and tools,  freakin’ psychedelic movies, hip hop graffiti and culture, fashion.

Do you have a favourite memory of your career so far that you will take with you forever?

The collaboration with Charlemagne Palestine, a unique and incredible artist in the world of contemporary music; Composing, playing and recording with him was a great experience.

If you could work with, or perform alongside any artist living or passed, who would it be?

MOS DEF, Madlib, Igor Stravinsky.

Most artists say that if they weren’t artists they would be mailmen/women… what would you be?

  Fisherman,  Stuntman.

How would you explain Afrofuturism to a child or someone that does not know the genre well?

Afrofuturism is a movement that connects Africa’s cultural roots to the technologic era,  projecting music and art in the future. For Trrmà mostly is connected to our love and inspiration for SUN RA music and thoughts, or to other musical producers like Ras G and Flying Lotus.

Which experiences or emotions inspired your upcoming album?

There is a meaning behind “The Earth’s Relief”, also connected with the dualism between old and new, between tradition and progress; In particular the comparison between nature and new architectural technologies. The album wants to compare mountains with skyscrapers, rock climbers with social climbers.

What can we expect from you in the near future? Any upcoming projects or gigs in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?

Working on new music, a European tour in Spring and a Japan Tour in Autumn.
