Emerging voice, JULA has shared the music video for ‘Leave’, her debut single via Tall Mountain Records released on May 31st, 2019.

The past few years have been transformative for JULA. Previously the media’s expectations of a female artist were corroding away at her self esteem, allowing her to become too focussed on her image and note spending enough time on herself or her sound. With the birth of her son, however, JULA was able to use the joy she felt to inspire herself and begin truly developing as an artist and musician.

JULA is very open about the influences throughout her life and especially the emotional toll that they have had on her. ‘Leave’ was part of the process to work through some of these emotions.

‘My songs are about emotions and, for me, emotions have very clear sounds. So when I write music, I already know what the sound of the song will be, even if it’s just me and the piano. I hear the vibe of what I want it to be. It’s a very organic process.’ JULA told The Playground in a previous interview when she discussed the song. You can read that interview here.
